Save and load to memory cards possible?

Post by kruuth » March 28th, 2020, 1:16 pm

PSIO has the USB port. I'd love to be able to copy my saves off my old pocketstation. Can we get something that can read/write to the memory cards?

I use a PS3 Memory Card adapter. Plug it to my PS3 Super Slim, download data from Memory Card into the PS3 internal PS1 memory card, then plug a USB into the PS3 and transfer the data to PC.

My Super Slim has a 320GB hdd so I just the leave the PS1 save data into it.

You can find the Memory card adapters on ebay for about $30/£30 on ebay.

Also works for PS2 Memory cards too

Wow those aren't cheap on ebay. You'd think that would be something you could get on aliexpress or something.

a PS2 w/ ulaunchelf can do this for much, much less. You can copy the raw save to a USB for future use.
You also get a PS2, dime a dozen and extremely easy to find, also for cheap $$$.

They're quite rare. I've only ever seen them a literal handful of times when the PS3 launched in the first year, and then never again. Fairly certain they didn't sell very many of them which would explain why they are rare in the first place, also why they still fetch a sum

idk... i have yet to find a PS2 for less than what I paid for my memory card adapter, for one that isn't a total bucket.

I've had my Super Slim PS3 since it released (one of a handful PS3's i own), so there was no extra cost and I kept seeing the adapter on my searches for different games and finally found one for a good price so I bought it.

It's fine, I was hoping there was some way to read saves since the old caetla carts could do it.
