Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Sound of music at the end of the fight does not lower it cuts the sound straight.

Post by ka55 » September 16th, 2019, 8:28 am

Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PSIO by winning a fight against the CPU cuts the sound of the song at the end of the fight, while in the original CD-ROM game the sound of the song goes down doesn't cut straight like in the PSIO.

Portuguese text in case the English text is not understandable, and you can use your text translator.
O Street Fighter Alpha 3 no PSIO ao vencer uma luta contra o CPU corta o som da música no final da luta, já no jogo original em cd-rom o som da música vai abaixando não corta direto como no PSIO.

Most likely an issue with the current timings. Please re-check this game after the next update is made public and report back.

Sounds like the not fully implemented (as of yet) ATV registers to me, as per this thread.

Not a timing issues. It's an ATV register issue. "Bust a Groove" does the same thing when you pause a song. It should fade-out, but instead it keeps playing and then cuts off. This is because PSIO isn't controlling the volume registers for these XA channels and even CDDA correctly.

Don't worry, we'll add full support for them soon.

Out of curiosity, why has the ATV volume support took so long to be added, since psio has been out of beta for years and wouldn't this be an important feature to add since it's detrimental to the gameplay in some ways.

It's complex. Upgrading the XA decoder also took a few years.

Oh, I get it. The lack of full ATV support means the game can't do fade outs typical for CD audio.

Once games are fully compatible gameplay-wise, it would be great if full ATV support was next on the to-do list.
