It's either Redump or it was gotten from a local paradise many like to visit and it is the US NTSC release
krisk77 threw me an image of a game that works for him. This image of the game also works for me without sounds.

SavitarSvit, I assume you still get sound on the PSIO menu as well as the boot screen and other games?
Yes.
At first I thought it might be a problem with the memory card. I run it through a PC on the PSIO, still no sound in the game.
I think that I had some kind of bug with the PSIO firmware. About which I wrote above. Nothing more to think about ...

I understand you correctly, you did try booting the game via SD card and USB mode?
Cue2cu2 - Python script for creating CU2 sheets via command line on Linux/Mac/Windows.

I played the USA version on V2.6.7 using Midboot. The music, voices and sound effects play fine. MD5 is 85f878cdfdede12b21e1c6012847cc14.

Amerika, just to be sure: you're using the Redump version I linked above? As in NTSC-U? Because the PAL version appears to work fine at this time.

SavitarSvit, are you loading a save game or starting a new game when testing?
Just checked and it's 85f878cdfdede12b21e1c6012847cc14. No issues with it.

SavitarSvit, can you check if it's working when booting the game from CD?

I do not have the original disc City of Lost Children and my console does not boot CDR disks.
