Just to be sure, that's a Redump compatible image with the MD5 hash being 85f878cdfdede12b21e1c6012847cc14?

There's no CDDA on this one, nor Libcrypt according to Redump.

Correct. We need to check that the disc image is valid.
You can try using "Midboot" mode by the way to see if that will get you sound.

The PAL version (redump) has sound effects and BGM using Default K1V4 mode for me.
I can check the US/NTSC one later, if it makes any difference.

Did you launch the NTSC version? I have a redump (U) version. MS 2.6.7.
I tried to run the game directly from the computer via usb. Nothing changed. There is no sound in the game.

Yeah, the USA version redump is one data track, yet the PAL Redump E version has 1 data track and 1 audio.

PAL E works with music and sound effects, since it uses a CU2 sheet because of the two tracks combined.

However, I just tested the NTSC USA version (redump) MD5 bcca19c7e931ef59bf60ee2f6c411761 and that has music at the start and when outside in the street. Also, turned the music off and the ambient sounds and footsteps can be heard.

My guess you have a bad rip of the US version. Check my MD5 against your copy.

Are you sure that's the right one? Redump's MD5 is listed as different.

That's odd. That is what is what was generated running my md5 check. I just download the md5 from redump's site and then compare it to my bin image. All were green.

I downloaded MD5 from the redump site and checked my image. There are no errors.
I also downloaded a (U) version of this game translated into Russian, there is no sound either.

I remembered an interesting point. The first time I started this game, there was a sound in the introductory video, but at the end of the video, the game hung and after that the music no longer appeared in the game. It happened on the old firmware. Maybe I had some kind of system failure? What should I do?

Amerika, just to be sure: you're using the Redump version I linked above? As in NTSC-U? Because the PAL version appears to work fine at this time.

SavitarSvit, are you loading a save game or starting a new game when testing?

It's either Redump or it was gotten from a local paradise many like to visit and it is the US NTSC release

I can check the MD5 when I get home.

I just tried it, although only once, with with with the 85f878cdfdede12b21e1c6012847cc14 Redump compatible image. I got sound effects and music when starting a new game after completely watching the intro.
Also, can confirm creepiness.

SavitarSvit, I assume you still get sound on the PSIO menu as well as the boot screen and other games?
