Libcrypt patching/Crack Intro's/Trainers - K1V1 & K1V3 incompatibility **FIXED V2.6.6/7**

@Matt & Yuri

Are you aware that some Libcrypt patches to some games don't boot correctly with K1V1 & K1V3 EXTDSP? My guess is because it's the way the scene groups like Paradox/Kalisto coded their crack intros and trainer menu's, which is interferes with the normal boot procedure and just wanted to point it out, since I have seen no mention of it elsewhere on the forums.

An example is *Sydney 2000 PAL* using the LC2 Protection Fix by PDX (paradox) as the game will not even load (black screen) using K1V1 & K1V3, yet using K1V2 works fine, as crack intro is shown before the user has the option to start the game.

Another example is *Legend of Dragoon* (NTSC/U)
Paradox Group
Patch : Protection Fix
Patch : NTSC / PAL Selector
Patch : + 3 Trainers

Black screen only with K1V3 mode. Other two EXTDSP modes work, as the video mode selector and trainer option is shown before the user starts the actual game.

And finally, *Metal Gear Solid* NTSC/U. All KV modes will not boot a patched image (black screen) using the B.A.D Team Trainer Patch: + 33 Trainers. Could only get a clean image to work, as no patches would work.

It's no big deal having to change EXTDSP modes for a particular patched title, since the blank K1V2 file in the game's directory is a handy feature to have, instead of manually changing modes in the options.

However, is that something that can be adjusted in the K1V3 logic to allow these scene crack intros and trainers to work?

UPDATE: All above fixed in System Menu V2.6.6

Hi. Yes, it should be something that can be adjusted and we'll take a look into it again when we can. Thanks for letting us know and spending the time to do a little research and explaining your results :)

Just wanted to add that I've just come across another game where K1V3 causes a game to not boot: Crash Team Racing PAL. With K1V3 enabled, I just got a black screen after booting the game from PSIO. The game appears to work fine with K1V2, though.

Thanks.

Yeah, there seem to be quite a few that have this issue. I have since found Spyro 3 v1.0 PAL using the 100% crack fix by Paradox to crash on a black screen using K1V3 but works fine on K1V2.

The game originally did work fine, but the new seek calculation logic really helped sync up the intro sequence and make loading more stable :)
