List of which games require alternate EXTDSP setting?

Post by Anapan » January 11th, 2019, 12:04 am

Is there a list somewhere?
I found that Elemental Gearbolt only works with music when in EXTDSP mode K1V1 & K1V2 (it won't boot in K1V3)
Final Fantasy Chronicles - Final Fantasy IV - the music skips if not set to K1V2
I read that Psygnosis games require K1V1 and someone on the forum here mentioned Alien Resurrection visuals require K1V2.

There's not official list available unfortunately, but usually the problems reported are in JIRA.

Is there a way to save the correct EXTDSP setting on a game-by-game basis? Right now I'm changing the setting manually each time I boot the game. I've put the setting in the folder name so I don't forget.

Edit: Thanks for the tip! I found that in the systems manual and facepalmed because I had missed this info.

Yes, you can create a file in the game's directory with the file name ( with no extension) of the default setting you wish the PSIO to use. The file doesn't need to contain any data - it can be 0 bytes.
The three filenames accepted are
K1V1
K1V2
K1V3
