@NRGDEAD: I'm not sure if I can get interlaced and progressive working, but I can give it a shot.

@dark-schneider & cargo: Are you both using Fastboot when it gets stuck on the "initialising" screen?
Fastboot is turned off.

A few people have complained about it freezing on the "Initialising" screen. I will release a new firmware update today and hopefully that fixes it.

Glad to hear about the new firmware and also about future NTSC 480i option for the PSIO menu. Some CRTs are good at handling 480i without flicker. I always thought it looks nice during the PlayStation's bios splash screen and on the memory card menu, so it would be nice if the PSIO menu matches it too :)

I just checked the downloads page and the last updated posted was Dec. 4th and the latest ARM Firmware revision is 2.6.0. Is there another place we should be downloading these updates? Or is this listing only for beta users?

It's now automatically updated from the Menu System. ARM V2.6.0 is the base firmware which includes the new logic to update from the Menu System, so it was left behind for users with outdated firmware prior to it.

I really got to get the new Systems Manual released :?

Noted and thank you! I updated to 2.6.0 build 5 without issue. However, I did run into an oddity that I've not seen before and I haven't reproduced it since. After updating I played Alien Resurrection to see if the texture issue with KIV3 was fixed in this build (it's not) and then I pressed Reset. I then decided to fire up Contra: Legacy of War NTSC because I'd never played it before and before I launched it I noticed that the details stated the Region was Japan. Which I only caught in passing before pressing X to launch the game. I was then greeted fairly quickly with the PSIO Initialization screen and my TV was flickering as if it was trying to display 50hz and not liking it. The PSIO Initialization never moved past that and so I powered the unit off and then back on. After powering it on, I had to set all of my preferences/username again as if the config file got nuked. I am assuming the file was in use during this bug and me powering it off corrupted the file. I did have quick boot enabled.

So far since I set everything back up it all works including Contra. I can post this in the support forum if you'd prefer Matt.

I've had that happen to me a few times, I think it happens when your cd image is bad or corrupted

Well, the CD image plays just fine and the CRC checks out too. So far I've not ran into the issue again.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for updating everthing and bring PSIO to us.
I have updated to the newest menu system (system information shows: 2.6 (Build 5), compilation date: 18/DEC/2018, system loader: 1.3 (637772B1), fastboot: 2.1 (8CDB4CE0)), ARM firmwares (2.6.1), and FPGA firmware (STY3 01/12/2018). I have issues as follows:
1) the 'Restart the PlayStation' (is it the same thing, 'Reboot the PlayStation', mentioned in the README.TXT of menu system, block '2.6.3->2.6.4') in the options of PSIO menu screen does not work, when I chose it, the console does nothing but shows 'Not Available [In Development]'. Wasn't it implemented in update 2.6.4? Or was I doing wrong to reboot the console from menu system?
2) the '.fseventsd' folder is still shown on the top of menu.
3) this maybe not an issue, I am not sure: after updated the new firmwares and menu system, every time I power on or reset my console (PS 7501), the PSIO is doing initialising (screen shows that) and then load the menu, it has significant longer booting time than previous (compare to 2.6.3 I guess), why PSIO doing initialising evertime even I have updated it and I also removed the two firmware files from SD card. maybe this problem only appear to me, I usually reset the console frequently, this long-time waiting is kind of degrade to PSIO.

Hello here !
Just a question, i didn't update for now.
Can i use the very last firmware alone (Menu 2.6.5), or do i have to update with the previous first (Menu 2.6.4 and ARM 2.6.0), and then apply the last one ?
Thank you !

The latter, if I'm not mistaken, as those versions enable the Menu System doing the updates from there on.

1) We're fixing the reboot option.
2) Noted. I'll test it and fix it as needed.
3) Yes it's normal.

I too noticed the initialization time doubling between when I first started using it a few days ago and updating to the latest firmware. It's not a massive issue or anything, but it seems odd and worth pointing out.

The added boot time was necessary for internal development reasons.

The new issue's cropping up in old working games seem to be all timing issue's. I assume this is because of adding XA support?

No, new CD-ROM reading routines which fixed Wipeout. We'll get it sorted though :)
