Question about the possible PS2 ODE
I read about this in another thread. I know it's probably a ways off, but I was curious how this would work with the fat PS2?
Since it doesn't have a pop top, and has the eject thing going on, I wondered how the ode would possibly be hooked into it?
I know it's early on, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
If you're gauging interest, I would buy this in a half a heartbeat.

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
Would just plug into the DVD-ROM ribbon and an SD Card would be on the board. Games could then be copied and deleted as needed by LAN (Local Area Network). The original DVD-ROM drive would also work too.

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
Interesting, I was actually wondering how an ODE could fit in there since there is virtually no space inside the PS2 around the disc drive. However I'm worried about incompatibilities with modchips. I have a PS2 with a Matrix Infinity in it. I know of some incompatibilities with my modchip (with FHDB for example). One thing I'm not too sure about this ODE : is it gonna be for running PS1 games only or PS2 games too?

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
Wait, there's a ODE in development for ps2? Why just not use the fat model with a internal HD? I've been using for years and never had issues whatsoever.

Compatibility is not 100% for one my strikers 1945 1 + 2 doesn't work on OPLpetrusdavi wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2021, 12:26 am Wait, there's a ODE in development for ps2? Why just not use the fat model with a internal HD? I've been using for years and never had issues whatsoever.
With a PS2 ODE you would be able to play PS1 and PS2 games on same console natively no emulation @ popstarter
Drag and drop games to sd card instead of current methods through hard drive.
Some games require strict timing that an ODE could provide.
When a new OPL is released while a great many bugs are fixed a great many new bugs are introduced

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
I also found that the way the PS2 works you can't use the hard drive for the native built in support for PS1 games the way you can for PS2 games because the PS1 CPU is being used as the bus for hard drive, controllers, usb etcpetrusdavi wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2021, 12:26 am Wait, there's a ODE in development for ps2? Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
We'll look into the PS2 once our PS1 ODE is sorted. PS2 is also one of my favourite systems

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
It's still in the prototype stages so there is no ETA currently.Nascimento1991 wrote: ↑January 31st, 2022, 11:59 am and when do you intend to release the ode for psone?

Re: Question about the possible PS2 ODE
I didn't know about that. That would explain why some games just don't work very well, like legend of manaWWammy wrote: ↑January 31st, 2022, 6:53 amI also found that the way the PS2 works you can't use the hard drive for the native built in support for PS1 games the way you can for PS2 games because the PS1 CPU is being used as the bus for hard drive, controllers, usb etcpetrusdavi wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2021, 12:26 am Wait, there's a ODE in development for ps2?
