Virtua Racing (Genesis) now runs, so they have 100% compatibility on 16-bit games. 32X CD games will eventually be possibly once they produce a slot adapter to be able to plug the cartridge into the expansion slot on the side. I'm an OEM original hardware guy through and through, but I draw the line on the CD add-ons. I've gotten TerraOnion's SSD3 and will get this one too. The CD add-on's or systems are just too expensive now, and all of them require repair. Not to mention the game prices. No one is going to make devices that replace hardware inside the add-ons, it's just not necessary.

Ssds3 is great, after the mega sd storm is over,it gets a nice update as also the neo sd.
Can't wait for the updates.
I have a v1 jap and eur mega cd and 2 sega cd 2,they still working fine.
Its also how you treat your material,if you see what people sell on ebay, its unbelievable.
Now i'm awaiting my mega sd,expensive or not, real hardware is also expensive, and if you cannot repair it yourself, even more.

Does anyone know if the Mega SD is just emulating the Sega Mega CD hardware and using the MegaDrive/Genesis hardware just like a real Sega Mega CD would, or is it also emulating the MegaDrive/Genesis hardware (similar to what the RetroBit RetroGen does to play MegaDrive/Genesis games on the SNES)?

It fully emulate the hardware in fpga, this is on hardware level and not software like in emulators.

Yeah, but is it also emulating the Mega Drive itself (IE: The VDP, Z80 and 68000)?

No it's only emulating the cartridge mappers. The FPGA emulates the CD's 68000 chip in hardware. Also emulates the Master System FM core.

Hm, apparently Terra Onion has moved from Spain to Andorra, a country which does have EUR as their currency, but are not in the EU. Thus, on top of what you pay for the MegaSD comes import tax and so on for EU customers.

That's a tax-avoiding move (Andorra is a tax haven). They're sure trying to squeeze this one baby as much as possible.

Yep, like others I got stung by a £65 tax fee to pay on delivery. Soon after, everyone complained and they put a disclaimer on the site about shipping from Andorra and you may be liable for customs/tax duty. Nothing about moving to Andorra was mentioned prior to pre-orders of MegaSD originally.

But I think they lowered the price from 250 EUR to 230, didn't they?

I like the MegaSD but it's too costly for me. Even if I could afford it I can't justify the expense!
Here's hoping CybDyn Systems may one day provide a rock solid, cheaper alternative.
