question for Matt. Are these boot methods going to disappear some day? or maybe auto-detect once the firmware reaches a sort of "final" version.

If the list becomes complete enough, yes, we can add it to the Menu System to have an option to automatically set the best EXTDSP mode.

They might disappear in the future if we find a way where one mode will work with all games, but for now they work pretty well :)

That's what I thought, thank you for answering!

Hi mRmo.
Just to make sure I understand:
1- in midboot only loads the intro;
2- in k1v1, k1v2 and k1v4 hangs the loading;
3- in k1v3 works everything, but you must remove the memory card before the intro? do you re-insert the memory card after the intro?
Thanks.

Need for Speed: High Stakes Australia (SLES-01876) boots and loads races with both Midboot and LoadExec on V2.6.16.

mRmo is either using a faulty disc image or has an SD card issue.

Crisis Beat needs K1V2. Otherwise, it freezes permanently after you perform a throw move.

Nice job everyone in submitting reports and keeping the spreadsheet updated! This spreadsheet might come in handy in the future if we add it to the Menu System to automatically recommend the mode required for you when you are about to launch a game ;)

That would be a great addition :D
And I assume it would also help avoid false bug reports.

People could leave their PSIO set to midboot and place K1V files in the folder of games that require it.

We know have a list from zePeido :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
so I'm a complete idiot, I'm only aware of the fact that I could switch to such modes, is there anywhere to find these specic K1V files to place them in ideal folders?

I personally don't see a reason; you can quickly figure that out per game and make the setting permanent.

over at my end doing such thing doesn't just save those specific settings for one specific game but it essentially makes it the default for everything else, which is a problem,

They are empty files named K1V3 and so on. No filename extension.

R-Type Delta needs K1V2. Otherwise, it will freeze at Stage 5.

noob question again

so i simply go into something like notepad, name the notepad file K1V3, drop it in the folder and thats it?

would it also work the same for games that require midboot?

If you're on Windows, first make sure you're not hiding file extensions by checking Windows Explorer's View => Options, then View => Advanced settings and remove the checkmark on "Hide extensions for known file types". Then go to the game directory, and next to the bin/cu2 files, right click, "New" => "New Text Document", rename that to K1V3 for example, and make sure there's no ".txt" on the end. That should do the trick.

If you're on Linux, on the Terminal and depending on where your SD card is mounted:

Code: Select all

$ touch /media/PSIO/Game/K1V3
Cue2cu2: A Python script for creating CU2 sheets via the command line on Linux/Mac/Windows.
