Need for Speed 2 works only with K1V2 for me. This list seems short (in a good way) :)

Fighting Force needs K1V2 or else it freezes when using grenades.
Thank you :D Updated the list.

I know for example that Chrono Cross needs K1V2, Racing Lagoon needs K1V2. FF8 on the current firmware needs Midboot.
Somehow I forgot to add Racing Lagoon and FF8 to the list. Sorry about that. List updated.

Chrono Cross doesn't need K1V2 anymore.

It works the best with K1V4 now. I noticed it has abnormal slowdowns with K1V2.

Quick question. I want to include on the list information about the FPGA version. What is the version before FPGA STY6 13/12/2019? I could only find information about a version STY4, does that mean that version STY5 did not exist?

Yeah, STY5 was used in-house for development and didn't exist publicly. It was instead merged with STY6.

Already came up a couple of times. See here.
I personally don't see a reason; you can quickly figure that out per game and make the setting permanent. And the firmware is subject to change, so then you'll get people complaining about the list not being up to date. ;-)
Unless I am doing it wrong, this is what I currently do; Play a game, sometimes for many hours, then crap!, something happens and the game is no longer playing correctly, or at all. Next, I restart the PSIO, make a mode change and save to test, reload the game and check to see if it works, if it does I then take the SD card out, put it in my computer, create the txt file to tell the PSIO to load the game in that mode in the future then put it back in the PSIO, wait for it to load up, then finally get to play my game and hope I picked the best mode and don't run into other possible issues that another mode may have handled even better.

I dunno, unless there is a new 'save mode to SD card' via the PSIO menu that I don't know about (and honestly, even then), it seems much easier to know ahead of time and just handle it all in one shot while you have the SD card loaded on your computer instead of having to do the above each time I run into an issue. At the very least to check a specific game I want to play that may not have an obvious bug upfront like during boot etc.

So yea, I am all for this list and currently have it bookmarked. Thanks guys!

You can add Puzzle Bobble 3DX to the list as was mentioned in the compatibility sub-forum (EXTDSP: K1V3)

Star Wars - Jedi Power Battles freezes with LoadExec on the character selection screen. Use Midboot.

I agree, if the compatibility information is all on one list, it's much easier and quicker to find.

I've added this game to the list. Could you tell me what the Game ID is? (it should be visible in the 'Details' window)

Sure,

Z (SCES-006.00)

I also found another one,

Blazing Dragons (SLUS-001.00) needs K1V2 - freezes on black screen after intro

Arm 2.6.8, FW 2.6.12
FPGA 13/12/2019 STY6

Elemental Gearbolt NTSC, SLUS-00654, CRC-32: 8a6d6287

The game boots and runs with any EXTDSP mode, but requires K1V2 to play any audio that is not in-game sound effects.

Crypt Killer NTSC, with GunCon patch applied does not boot at all without K1V2. It works as intended with K1V2. I will try to test the unpatched version later.

Not on all setups, it seems. It will only boot and work with K1V2 on my console.

Also, the compatibility for Star Wars - Jedi Power Battles changed in V2.6.15. The game used to work only with Midboot (it would freeze on the character selection screen otherwise), but now it also works with Load Exec.

Cases like Jedi Power Battles are why I said this list will be hard to make until PSIO is through with the bug fixes.

Thank you for all your contributions :) I have updated the spreadsheet.

I agree that maintaining a list like this is hard at the current time, but it might be useful.
For instance, Chrono Cross and Star Wars - Jedi Power Battles have currently two different entries, one for each firmware version. This way, a person can find out if his PSIO should be updated to play a specific game or not.

I tested Racing Lagoon and Alien Ressurection on V2.6.15 and both worked fine for me using Midboot, so it seems they don't need K1V2 anymore.
