Crash when loading first game...

Post by Israel Dias » October 6th, 2019, 12:48 am

After the last update (September 17th) every time I turn on the video game and pick a game, it starts and stays on a black screen. Regardless of the game chosen. To get back to normal I need to restart the video game for the games to work again.

Thanks..

So the menu works but on starting a game the screen goes black and that's it? No audio either?

Exactly!

It only returns to normal after restarting the video game.
Before upgrading had never given this problem...

That's odd. Are you using Redump compatible images? Or did you change anything else about your setup? TV or anything?

I did the last update and presented the same problem! In order not to reset or turn on and off 2 times, I reinstalled the PSIO system [V2.6.8].

Yeah, try a recovery. I quote myself for easy reference:

Recovery per Systems Manual:
If you have problems updating or your PSIO Cartridge has somehow become bricked (you powered off your PlayStation whilst updating, or something else happened such as it hangs at the BIOS or the LED does not blink anymore when it should be reading from the SD Card to boot), there is a final step you can attempt to take in order to restore the ARM Firmware which may have become corrupted. In order to do this, you need to rename the ARM Firmware file from “FIRMWARE.AFW” to “RECOVERY.BIN” and put that on an SD Card formatted as FAT32 in the root directory. Once done, insert the SD Card in your PSIO Cartridge and power on your PlayStation. If you are attempting to recover by “RECOVERY.BIN”, remember that it is critical that the SD Card is formatted as FAT32 and not exFAT, otherwise it will not attempt to recover the firmware.
Also important but missing in the manual at the moment:

Ah, try putting the UPDATE.FPG file on the FAT32 card too.

Yes, I am using compatible images and have not changed anything beyond the update. Everything is as it has been since the PSIO purchase.

This is the second update I make, and only that gave the problem.

Indeed, it seems that after disabling Fast Boot the problem is gone.

Change EXTDSP modes from Midboot to LoadExec and try using K1V3 via the options in the Menu System.
