I wish there was a "template" with the current location of all Logos and borders that overlay(PSIO Logo/buttons graphics). It would be quite a bit easier than doing methodical changes.

Here is what I cooked up and am using. Updated 2019-05-24 because I changed a few minor things because it pleased me to do so.

blue paint splatter PlayStation BIOS
The Blue Paint Splatter in the spirit of the OEM bios is amazing, and should be included in some official way. It is outstanding!

Some photos I took and developed in Lightroom. In case anyone can't get enough of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Gran Turismo or… Batman and Robin…?

I have also made this Photoshop template to adjust/align wallpapers to the menu UI without having to put it on a card and test it on hardware beforehand. It's not 100% pixel perfect, but like 99% and gave me very good results.

The layers/groups:
  • Anti Banding
This is a bit of noise, subtle, but should avoid banding by creating a dithering effect.
  • Menu Examples
One layer each for PAL and NTSC with a screen capture of the PSIO menu. Use this to see if text might get in the way of important details of your wallpaper. And don't forget to set these to invisibile when exporting your wallpaper to bitmap format. ;-)
  • Shadows
These provide a darker background for the logo and games list. The buttons and scrolling info line are excluded because they have different positions on PAL and NTSC. So I put a gradient there.
  • Background
Just a 50% gray background. Put your main artwork layer on top of this and/or adjust this to your liking or remove it entirely.
As for the shadows, the idea is to use the layer effects on the layer group and/or individual layers to create effects fitting your artwork, so the colors match and stuff. But of course, you do you; do what you think looks the best. And maybe post the results here?

These are amazing wallpapers!

Im not usually one to make a request, and lack the software and skill to create something like this
But would it be possible to take this exact design, but change it from black to a PlayStation grey coloured background
With the playstation symbols change them to random colours of Red, Green, Yellow and Blue.

Would make this design really stand out.

Thanks again for your original wallpapers :)

Ow my gosh these wallpapers are fantastic, I love the RE2 inventory idea. I wish that the PSIO had the ability to randomly select wallpaper/music upon startup (or ability to use custom music). It is the perfection perfected, having this in the 1995 would smash the world xD

Sadly the technology wasn't feasible back in 1995 to do this. Remember the first SD Cards? They were at maximum 32 MB and cost A LOT of money. They were mainly used in the early digital camera stage

Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, five times more, perhaps not even that.

Hi, I've made some WipeOut inspired wallpapers. They're all NTSC format.

I don't know how to embed pics so here's an imgur account where you can see them so you know what you're about to download.

EDIT : and of course I forgot to include the link ^-^ https://imgur.com/user/VvJerome

(the one with the Japanese text on the top left corner has a little something that I find neat, you need to see it "in motion" in the PSio menu to understand)

EDIT 2: I realize that some may be a bit obscure, I've made one for each class of ship (color them and logo), one that replicates the menu screen and two that are inspired by the marketing materials. All of them are inspired by WipeOut 2097 but I took some liberties regarding the Feisar logo, this one was better suited for the small size I had at my disposal.

I've made an alternate version of the wallpaper that is inspired by the menu.

By the way, I'm using a PVM, I have no idea how they would look on a modern TV, they look decent in MSPaint so I assume they should look great.
