Re: Test Drive 4 (USA) [Menu System V2.6.16]

Maybe that actually happens from a real PS1 CD-ROM? If XEBRA has it, I'm willing to believe that's how the game works on real hardware.

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

Thanks for the well written and clear information, and thanks for the Memory Card save! This doesn't happen on any other console however except for the 750x series, correct? Doesn't seem like it. AMG even tested it on a 700X console and it worked with no issues despite the analog sticks being turne...

Re: Starblade Alpha (U) [Menu System V2.6.16]

thanks, it means that this firmware has regression Well, it also means it can be fixed again, so I wouldn't worry about this bug. Good that you noticed it, though. It might have slipped otherwise. Thanks for all the tests. BTW, the report of this game working is way back from 2016. A ton of changes...

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

Just some mounting Velcro tape I put on to secure it. That's a very good idea. PSIO is not securely mounted by default. I used a stripe of a double-sided tape at the top of the PS1 casing myself. As for your problem, I'm sorry we still haven't figured it out. I checked that very area a lot of times...

Hi, can you tell me what's that blackness on the side of your PSIO? It's hard to tell from the video. Is it just a shadow of some sort? Also, is the casing of your console damaged in the corner or is just an illusion?

I confirm this bug.

Starblade Alpha has no copy protection, so it's definitely a PSIO bug.
then this problem is not only with me
No, it's a bug for sure, especially since this game used to work on PSIO.

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

Okay, been playing for 20 minutes. Reached the cut scene in the bar. No lockups with a DUAL SHOCK controller. Used Midboot. Paulkakanis said it can take up to an hour for the game to freeze, so you should keep playing. He also specified that on his setup it will always start freezing during the tim...

Re: Resident Evil 2 Freezes sporadically in loading screens V2.6.16

I've been playing RE2 for hours on V2.6.16 and nothing freezes even with the analog sticks on. The console used is SCPH-1002.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

My guess is that MKT will be an easy fix. The game is probably asinine about the timing of CdlDemute.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

In my case, it's two factors. I don't want to put any more money into playing my PS1 games, but I also love PSIO as a device. I personally find its installation a piece of cake if you're familiar with SMD components, so I don't consider the soldering a minus at all. The cartridge format is wonderful...

Re: Novastorm (USA) (Disc 1) [Menu System V2.6.16]

For almost all PS1 games, this doesn't happen. But a few games have a timing skew between timescales based on the CPU clock and ones based on counting vblanks. If an audio track is synchronized to the CPU clock (the SPU is clocked from the same source) and the visuals are synchronized to the display...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Also, no one has time to play the entire PS1 library probably, but anyone can weigh "time to play as many PS1 games as possible" vs. "time to reply and comment on almost every post and topic raised on the Cybdyn forums" ;) My PC is online 24/7 and I'm doing a ton of other things on it. These forums...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I've heard so many stories about "perfect" emulation and even higan isn't perfect, and you need a 4 GHz to get "close to perfect" with SNES since it's a software emulator. The FPGA hardware emulators get cheaper and cheaper, but they do have their own peculiarities. To each his own, but I'm sticking...

So in my opinion PSIO dont cause problems, it's just game engine poorly made.
Which is what I had told you in my first post, but I'm glad we have it sorted out for sure now.

Thank you for the CD tests.

Would you be willing to give details on that mod for those of us with a SCPH-550x or lower?
The firmware would have to unlock it and Matt already said they are going the software route to get all boards with the I/O port compatible.

Re: Nightmare Creature 2 Micro freezing

Well we can't fix buggy CD-ROM programming by game developers obviously. This is just how the game is. Agreed and that's my point since the first post, but dada1212 says it happens less from the CD. Other people who have played this game from the CD say it also micro-pauses frequently, though. It w...

Re: Nightmare Creature 2 Micro freezing

Well, maybe it's more frequent on PSIO? More people should check this with a CD, but I played it both on PSIO and Mednafen and it was micro-pausing more or less with the same frequency. The reviewer also proved with video from real hardware that the freezes can take up to 5 seconds, when the game gl...

Crisis Beat needs K1V2. Otherwise, it freezes permanently after you perform a throw move.
