Re: Resident Evil 2 Freezes sporadically in loading screens V2.6.16

Change your .BIN file names to

Code: Select all

Resident Evil 2 - Dual Shock (USA) Claire.BIN
Resident Evil 2 - Dual Shock (USA) Leon.BIN
and use the attached MULTIDISC.LST.

Re: PS1 Disc Drive Longevity Variance

With that in mind, I got the unit home, my parents insisted on scrubbing the system down inside and out with disinfectant wipes to try and kill any coronavirus, and then I was able to hook it up to test. That's an overkill and it risks creating moist inside the console. Even if the console had cont...

It's related to the Controller Subsystem.
Matt will sort it out.
Cheers.
I hope so, but you do remember we had the exact same problems 2 or 3 months ago and the controller subsystem was supposed to have been fixed then?

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I'm really excited to see if Brave Saga 1 and 2 will boot with the new firmware...and to try out Jackie Chan. I hear it's a mediocre game, but now it's such a novelty on the PSIO that I'll probably enjoy it more. It's a fun little game for a certain crowd, but it is mediocre overall. However, fixin...

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

2 memory cards and recap do not affect the game. I have an intact official DualShock with no recap and one memory card or without it. Nothing goes into the loop. PlayStation SCPH-1002. Mainboard Model PU-8. On SCPH-1002, it doesn't, but it might affect other PS1 PCBs. That's the whole problem here ...

I doesn't freeze now with a second controller plugged in. :P

@ Takehaniyasubiko
You have a second controller plugged in?
No, just one reccapped DualShock controller, but I have two original Memory Cards plugged in.

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

I just remembered something: I also recapped my DualShock controller (SCPH-1200). It uses one electrolytic capacitor, 2.2 uf IIRC.

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

One more question, does your PS1 have a modchip installed?

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

It's just so weird, especially with RE2 working for you and RE3 not working for you, whereas Matt had it the opposite.

Hopefully, the PSU re-capping will solve your issues. If not that, there's always hope in the new firmware.

Re: Resident Evil 3 sporadic door transition freezing

BTW, when you're formatting an SD card for PSIO, do you

a) create a GPT partition table;

b) create only one partition;

c) use exFAT;

d) set the cluster size to 256 KB?

Currently in the long overdue process of recapping a psu with a kit from console 5. If I finish tonight I'll give it a go and update again, but I'm very skeptical that its the cause.
At least we'll eliminate that!

If it doesn't help, try to get the exact SD card that is reported to work flawlessly.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

It will most likely fix Final Fantasy 7, because as an example the [PAL] version of Jackie Chan wasn't freezing, but it had stuttering much like FF7 did. FF7 is dependent on low-level access calls and buffering with its engine based on separate gameplay modules, so it was most likely suffering from...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

If this fixes NFS1, Nuclear Strike and FF7 as well, only the few games which require low-addressed SPU RAM buffer data are going to be left. And Roswell Conspiracies, but its CD-DA playback report problem is well-known and shouldn't be hard to fix. I'm very happy to hear about Jackie being fixed and...

BTW, don't forget about Roswell Conspiracies. :) Voultar is gonna have to eat his words about PSIO's compat...

Re: Resident Evil 2 Freezes sporadically in loading screens V2.6.16

Obviously that was before Matt's 5002 acted up with RE2, but they seemed to change chip layout and such for most revisions. Could be something very subtle. Assuming he found the same bug. It could be something similar, but not exactly the same bug as the one you're having with RE3. It must be somet...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

OPL’s compatibility is actually very good with an internal HDD. There are games that require compatibility setting, but most don’t. Just looking at the PS2-Home compatibility list it appears to be around 95-99 % compatibility via an internal HDD. That list is extremely inaccurate. For example, it l...

Re: Resident Evil 2 Freezes sporadically in loading screens V2.6.16

NTSC/PAL doesn't seem to matter in this case because I'm using a PAL console and the NTSC RE2, yet nothing freezes.

I think it's about the memory card (I'm using a SanDisk Extreme Pro, 95 MB/s) or the PSU.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

First ps2? cool. I take one, but i have read a couple of day ago, that MX4SIO come. A modified Memcard for SD Cards and OPL. Read here OPL's compatibility is far below 100% even with an internal HDD. With an SD card adapter, it will be even worse. Adapters of that nature were tried in the past by t...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Don't forget about Roswell Conspiracies. That game is quite peculiar and had the same bug even in Mednafen, so it won't be related to the buffering. It's about the CD-DA playback report. And be sure to check it during actual gameplay because the audio will play in the intro and in the main menu.
