Re: How about a list of games that require specific modes?

Is there anything missing in the list? Does "Fastboot" or "Execution Mode" or anything else affect game compatibility?

Re: How about a list of games that require specific modes?

I've created a list. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EhfOJdntIEsoxJX6MCidGDrMXEY3E7DLD0ZmQXu6jgU/edit I have not added any game because I can't test anything yet (I still haven't installed the SwitchBoard). EDIT: Anyone should be able to edit the list. If you have any trouble, please tell me...

Re: How about a list of games that require specific modes?

I think the list idea is good. To prevent problems where the firmware changes compatibilities, the list should also contain the versions of the firmwares used to test the mode. For example: ---Name________________Region(s)_____________________Mode(s)_______Firmware(s) used to test ---Final Fantasy V...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

The Dreamcast serial port is extremely slow. I remember back in the DC scene days it would take hours to rip one GD rom via the serial port. If you’re talking about the expansion port the modem plugs into, that would definitely be fast enough. Not sure how it would work though. Correct, I was sugge...

Re: Buying a new (used) PSX, recommended version?

I would suggest SCPH-700x for the PSIO. Plenty of these from Japan. These have all the fixes from the 550x series, a single chip ram which should be more reliable, and a sepparate DAC and sound processing unit, which were integrated later in the 750x series. The SCPH-700x has a separate audio DAC a...

Re: Buying a new (used) PSX, recommended version?

Thank you all for your answers. Just another question, if I use an unmodified PAL PU-8 to play a NTSC game (for example, Time Crisis) with a gun and with the console connected to the TV using RGB/SCART, then I should be fine? The gun must be connected to a controller port and must also be connected ...

Re: Buying a new (used) PSX, recommended version?

What CoolerKing from Assembler Games wrote might be true for CVBS and S-Video, but it's certainly not true for RGB analog component video. The older models have a visibly sharper and cleaner image via legitimate RGB cables. Thanks. I'll probably use one of my PAL PU-8 with the newer GPUs. Now I'm o...

Re: Buying a new (used) PSX, recommended version?

Sorry if this has been answered before. I have my PSIO for almost a year now, and still haven't tried it, because of lack of time for assembly, and because I have several PS1 consoles with different motherboards and I don't know wich one I should use. So far, most people say that the older models wi...

Re: Mega CD

Does anyone know if the Mega SD is just emulating the Sega Mega CD hardware and using the MegaDrive/Genesis hardware just like a real Sega Mega CD would, or is it also emulating the MegaDrive/Genesis hardware (similar to what the RetroBit RetroGen does to play MegaDrive/Genesis games on the SNES)?

Re: Mega CD

Youre totally wrong sir. Mega sd is fpga, totally different from emulation. That you don't want to buy it cause its not cheap,ok with that, but don't say fpga and emulation is the same. Search the difference between fpga and emulation, totally different. I'm not wrong. Emulation is emulation, it doesn...

Re: Mega CD

For me, I would rather buy a RaspberryPi and a megadrive/genesis USB/wireless clone controller to play Sega Mega CD games with an emulator than to buy the Mega SD. I understand that original Sega Mega CD hardware is very expensive, but both the RaspberryPi+emulator and the Mega SD are emulators. I w...

Re: Mega CD

I understand that the Mega CD model 1 and model 2 are different and that it would be harder to create an ODE than to create a cartridge like the Mega SD that emulates the entire Mega CD, but I'm not interested in a product like the Mega SD. What I want is to keep using my Mega CD even after it's opt...

I like the option to have this features, but I think there should also be an option to turn off this features in case the user doesn't want them.

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

You need to leave the 12V connected for the official PAL SCART cable to function on a PAL console. VGA is fine without. I haven't actually used a dreamcast with the normal disc so I do not have a reference for how hot these units normally get. I have left Crazy Taxi, GDEMU, 3D prinited tray, Noctua...

Re: Assorted PSIO BMP ARTWORK for download!!!

http://www.ps-io.com/cover_art/index.html Special thanks to 'ncirocco' for this one! Thank you for that. Just wanted to report that there are only NA covers for Final Fantasy Anthology (FFA in NA has FFV and FFVI, it doesn't contain FFIV), there are no PAL FFA covers (in PAL regions, FFA contains F...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

I've heard that the 12V rail overheats because it's not being used, and that the problem is completely solved by doing the following mod (adding a resistor): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVKN3pQ11wM Also, because the GD-ROM is removed, airflow will not be the same. Something like a 3D printed tra...

Switchboard Minimal Instalation - just for using PSIO, don't need to use disc drive

Hi, I received my PSIO a few months ago, but still haven't had time to test it. Anyway, I have some questions about the switchboard. 1- I don't want to use the disc drive in the PS1 that I'm going to connect to PSIO. 1.1 - Is the installation of the switchboard simpler if I don't mind loosing the di...
