Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Figured it out. It was a problem on our end in the assembly code. I overlooked one of the bytes which was sending the string length (it was fixed as 0x14 which is the length for all Sony title PS-EXE boot strings in the CNF :?). Thanks to the MemCard Pro team for painfully working with me to resolv...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Serious question: Are you intentionally trying to be rude/condescending or are you just not aware of how your tone comes across? Serious answer: I'm straightforward and you see what you want to see. There was a problem with adding the logo, so I hoped no such problems would delay the game fixes. It...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

You don't really get to speak on other users' behalf. The current firmware is fine for now, and if this allows Cybdyn to avoid having their work taken advantage of by bootleg sellers then I'm for it. I mean, you're kinda doing the same there, speaking on other user's behalf. I guess that's one read...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

There's a conflict of interest here. The users couldn't care less about the security design, whereas Cybdyn sees it as the most important thing. You don't really get to speak on other users' behalf. The current firmware is fine for now, and if this allows Cybdyn to avoid having their work taken adv...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I do appreciate the work that's been put into PSIO but was really saddened when it was to be ready by the end of this year. Then it became Q1 or Q2 of 2022. Not trying to be negative but one can only hope we get there... :flag More communication is required, in particular this thread https://www.cy...

Re: MemCard PRO Support?

So what happens if I have a MemCard Pro and a regular Sony Memory Card in both slots. Will my MemCard Pro fail? There's other variations too that can be questioned, and that's what's misleading about the recall statement. Having talked to 8BitMods and read the Twitter thread, the scenario is: - If ...

Re: MemCard PRO Support?

It's an odd scenario and an odd bug. I still kinda wonder why people would need two in the same machine, but to each their own. Looks like 8BitMods is really pulling out all the stops to support their users though. I just got mine btw! Pretty excited for the next PSIO firmware. Any chance you could ...

Re: MemCard PRO Support?

Yeah, when my pre-order card arrives I plan to turn the WiFi off immediately. I think it's got some really cool features but I don't think it'd be worth the extra power draw, heat, and potential network security issues.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

By all accounts the next update is gonna be pretty big and there has been a bunch of beta testing going on. Also, if you look on the Project Task Progress you can see that CDDA clipping is still being worked on.

Re: What's with the unjust hate towards the PS-IO?

It's a combination of legitimate gripes, mixed with folks' propensity to get super wound up on the internet and a helping of cynical humour. Honestly, it's not worth it to take it personally and feed in to the weirdly combative tone that continues to flourish in the retro gaming scene. Enjoy your PS...

How much power does PSIO draw?

Just like the title says, how much power does the PSIO draw from the PSX? As I add more and more aftermarket items to my PSX (PSIO, PS1Digital, Memory Card Pro, Brooke BT adapters, etc.) I'm curious how much extra strain this is putting on the power distribution in the console. Thanks!

Re: PS1Digital Per-Game Settings

If they share the information with us on how to communicate with the HDMI mod, then we'd be happy to add support for it. I'll need them to send me one though since I don't currently own one (I just use the OSSC). I don't know if this is the correct information but chriz2600 just tweeted it recently...

Re: PS1Digital Per-Game Settings

8BitMods doesn't have any say in PS1Digital's firmware roadmap; it is Dan and Chriz's project, and Chriz has already publicly said that any ODE could support this feature. Except PSIO is not an ODE, so there's that wordplay going on. Only time will tell. So far, CybDyn didn't get any offers. Seeing...
