It only effects CDDA. Not local SPU audio.
Ah, thanks for clarification, Matt, sorry for misunderstanding and discussing it here.

But the L/R misalignment that causes stereo flip is certainly a problem.
Do this flips happen in every game? It should be a very serious problem in action games, where you can and should locate enemies by sound. How come no one noticed it until now? :o

The Menu System boot times are pretty bad, I agree with that. We will work on that next once we fix all these minor issues :)
Thanks, Matt, of course, bug fixes should come first and be served first.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

It's getting closer to how it used to be. Technically it may have been "too fast" before, though it didn't cause issues with almost all the library so it was a good thing. I'm still hoping eventually there will be a toggle in the settings (off by default) for fast disc read speed like in the old fi...

That's just about PSIO booting to the menu.
Okay, that's not that bad too. Glad that TR1/2 have been already fixed, hope that Matt will release the fix soon, so everyone would be happy, not just us here.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Not really increased per se, but in some games, where there's a ton of seeking, they seem to play more smoothly than from the CD-ROM since there's no physical movement of the laser head to deal with anymore. I mean, assuming you have a pristine disc and a brand-new laser, it probably plays just as ...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I've tested 50 since yesterday. Only Tomb Raider 1-2 hanged. The only other non-ATV issue I've noticed is the jerky movement in the intro of Soul Reaver (worked perfectly before, so it's a firmware issue, but minor). On the bright side, some games are loading better than ever before. Nightmare Crea...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Doom and gloom, when in reality this firmware has far less bugs than any before it. :) I'm happy personally, both Driver and NFS:PU that I reported are now working ;) And I don't see in the list of games to fix many games, that's good too. But for some reason there are no FFVII frame pacing problem...

Bug fixes need to be pushed out more quickly while leaving new features for the major quarterly releases.
Where should I sign? :) Yes, it would definetely be nice to know that firmwares with bug fixes will be released quickly.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

It's kind of depressing actually. I've joined less than half year ago, but I only see improvements. I mean, there were games that didn't work before, and there are games that don't work now, but full ATV support was added, SysCon produces consistent results with multi-bin games, there are no more gr...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I don't know if others can can tell by watching the videos captured with my phone. I don't have any video capture equipment to do a side by side comparison, but when you actually play the game you can tell there is a difference. Here's a couple more videos. Hopefully these can help and lead to some...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

You can afford $1000 monitors? I'm envious. ;) For 32-bit and up (so stuff like PS2, DC, etc.), I'm using a 1990 (not 1990s - a model from the year 1990) AE-1B 29" Trinitron from the UK which I had personally refurbished from scratch. It has the perfect scanlines to my eyes. They aren't as thick as...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

Scarcity is one thing, but they are so expensive nowadays that it's hardly worth it unless you can afford to treat money like toilet paper. Yes, but you can always change your mind one day and embrace the faults/limitations of PS1's GPU as bewitching features of this retro experience. It does grow ...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

JVC monitors have nothing on Sony's BVMs. JVC were mid-tier at best. BVMs are top-end Then it's end of the line for now, I don't have anything beside that. I would gladly compare it with 2500 hours 20 inch BVM, if only I had one. I would gladly buy one if you know good seller from Russia, I've trie...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

BVM, on the other hand, has only 2600. Is that BVM the 14" you talked about? If yes, then it's so sharp because of a very low work hours count. 2600 = mint. Yes. No, that's not the thing, I also have 2500 hours 17 inch JVC with the same 800 TVL, and it doesn't look as sharp. Even my wife says that,...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

Just please keep in mind that used CRTs will not perform that great in most cases unless you put a lot of work into them. With digital chassis, Sony actually offers internal timers, so it's great to see how many work hours there are on the tube. If it's more than 15 000, the tube is already deterio...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

I'm not referring to your joke. I'm talking about fernan1234 brining the Retina display into a CRT discussion - apples and oranges. It's totally misleading, just like his claims that YPbPr is like RGB after calibration (when YPbPr is decoded from RGB, so it will always be slightly inferior). He als...

Re: PSIO the best way to play PS1 games?

Retina display has nothing to do with the CRT technology . Of course, it hasn't. fernan1234 just wrote above technology in general above, and I've just wanted to look at it from perspective of CRT, cause it is interesting. Calculations about 3 meters for 14 inch CRT confirmed that it is just wrong ...
