Re: Reduce Scrolling Animation Speed - 60fps PSIO Menu

Hmm, we'll I can't actually slow it down because the PlayStation uses fixed point integer math, so one way is to waste a huge chunk of memory and pre-compile a floating point lookup table. Problem with also wasting memory is that it's... slow. I'll see what I can do about slowing it down a little a...

Re: Reduce Scrolling Animation Speed - 60fps PSIO Menu

The scrolling text at the bottom of the screen is perfectly smooth on my CRT TV, so it's a problem with your scan doublers and scan converters. Otherwise, are you talking about when you hold L2 or R2 to 'fast scroll'? I didn't say anything about the smoothness of the scrolling - purely the speed. I...

Re: Reduce Scrolling Animation Speed - 60fps PSIO Menu

OP meant the scrolling animation speeds for the text at the bottom of the screen. I think it scrolls perfectly now. It was far too slow before. :) Yes, this was what I meant. It's subjective of course (and not a case of not being able to read it! lol) and I did say slightly fast, but in my view it ...

Reduce Scrolling Animation Speed - 60fps PSIO Menu

Not really a "feature" request per se but this seemed like the most appropriate area to post this. Absolutely LOVE the new 60fps menu - so silky smooth! But it does look like the scrolling animation speeds for the text were dialled in with 30fps in mind as the main notification scroll and game title...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Perspective. Give the man a break. There's quite enough going on across the globe right now and the vast majority of the PSIO library functions fine.

Speaking of games, grab FF7 remake if you can, a few gripes aside it's fantastic and a great way to kill 35 hours or so.

Re: How did the Chinese manage to clone PSIO

eBay will never take any notice of such issues. They're a shameless, scummy company. Even in the midst of the COVID lockdown they're still happy to allow items to be listed as collection only on a daily basis. All they care about is $$$ legal or not. It amazes me a regulator hasn't yet looked in to ...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Just checked the Season mode in WWF SmackDown! 2. No GFX corruption whatsoever. The game switches resolutions, like you said, but it has nothing to do with PSIO and it doesn't cause any "GFX corruption". There's just a flash when it happens. It's how it's supposed to work. Your upscaler is probably...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

OK guys, sorry. I'll make sure I check my ROMs are perfect before posting anything - must be something up with my Spyro rip or SD card is fragmented or something. I don't understand why though as it was perfect before the firmware update, and the only change I made was to replace the sys file. tcliv...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

I will check Spyro (1.0 or 1.1?) and WWF SmackDown! 2. Did Spyro 1 have 2 different revisions? I know Year of the Dragon did. I'll check when I get home from work. I'll see if I can be clearer about the SD2 thing, season mode is probably the best place to encounter it as it's always cutting away to...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Thanks for all the hard work on the firmware. From my quick play last night, Spyro The Dragon/Spyro 1 (NTSC) had graphical corruption over the text (similar to what FF7 had) immediately apparent on the main menu. I can verify my ROM is good if needed but it's a really quick one to check given it's l...

Re: OSSC Optimal Timings for PS1

I tried these timings with my SCPH-1002 PS1 last night and because of changing the "Line2x/3x/4x/5x/ mode: 320x240 optim." It made things look a lot worse than the setting I already had so I reverted that back. It will depend on the resolution of the game you're playing, which is why there's 3 prof...

Re: OSSC Optimal Timings for PS1

Thanks so much for these, 320x240 looks even sharper now (almost emulator sharp!) and works properly at all multipliers. It got rid of the slight shaking I had at 3x too.

Re: Will PSIO DRM move away from email-address in the future?

We've had this discussion on Classic Gaming discord. People are angry that they have to enter their email, serial number and order number just to download the firmware,, in their words "jumping through hoops". To which I replied with a question, what like you do every time you login to a forum or e...

Re: Ogre Battle

Matt has posted before about the potential to include a fast boot toggle at a later date, I believe, which would benefit games unaffected by speed compatibility.

Re: Will PSIO DRM move away from email-address in the future?

I've said before that personally, I fully understand trying to keep the firmware behind lock and key given the counterfeits are produced by Chinese thieves who have no respect for copyright law (but profit from Cybdyn Systems' hard work and investment over many years). But from a customer experience...

Re: Final Fantasy VII Graphics Corruption

It's a bug in the current PSIO firmware and we're fixing it :) https://jira.cybdyn-systems.com.au/browse/CSGC-115 Awesome! :D Thank you. While the slightly unhealthy grinding sounds of the aging laser assembly in this thing are somewhat nostalgic and all, I was growing rather accustom to the consis...

Final Fantasy VII Graphics Corruption

Hi, I've been playing through FF VII and got about 12 hours or so in to the game without issue. However I began experiencing random graphical corruption on a scene change after this point (I think always after ending a battle). This can range from mild to rendering the game unplayable, and unless ne...
