Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

With DC, you actually need something that plugs to where GD-ROM normally is. Other solutions will suck in regards to speed and compatibility. Well, I'm not sure if anyone has actually tried the expansion slot interface, but I feel like it would work. Most of those optical-media based systems offere...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

PS1 had so many board revisions, doing a drive replacement could be messy. As for the Dreamcast, as with any system, you have to consider the bandwidth (transfer rate) for each interface. The serial port on the back is 2mbps ~ 0.25 MB/s, which as we saw with the SD Card Adapters, does work, but it's...

Re: Mega CD

No it's only emulating the cartridge mappers. The FPGA emulates the CD's 68000 chip in hardware. Also emulates the Master System FM core.

Re: Mega CD

Virtua Racing (Genesis) now runs, so they have 100% compatibility on 16-bit games. 32X CD games will eventually be possibly once they produce a slot adapter to be able to plug the cartridge into the expansion slot on the side. I'm an OEM original hardware guy through and through, but I draw the line...

Re: Mega CD

They have a ton of R&D into this product, so it's going to be priced accordingly. Plus it will be a full retail product with professional box and whatnot. They're also I believe licensing a X68000 FPGA core to mimic the original CD CPU, not sure how cheap that is. As for the Ever Drive, Krikzz has s...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

Well, both USBGDROM and GDEMU are difficult to procure, and both use FAT32 so memory card size is hampered.

Re: Compatibility with 1001 unit?

I actually went with the SCPH-7501 a few years ago, because it was the smallest MB revision that still had the parallel port. Made it much cheaper (literally HALF the size of older ones) to ship to Australia for the switchboard installation!

Re: Mega CD

Nope. Never received a Mega CD so prototype work on it never started. D'OH! Wish I had one to send, but I do not. One issue you may have though is that the CD had tons of hardware revisions internally that people don't realize. I'm afraid the only sensible method would be something ilke the SSD3 fr...

Hmmm, very handy toolset it sounds like. Anyone willing to make a how-to video on YouTube for the dolts like me? :)

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

GDEMU (and RHEA/PHOEBE) production remain absurdly slow/low. Deunen's work was bootlegged in China specifically because he has refused any sort of 3rd party mass production, which still boggles the mind. The 3rd party menu was designed and is okay, but the originator I heard has gone AWOL. Frankly, ...

Re: Let's talk about the PocketStation

So until there's a direct Memory Manager, I found this old Pocketstation Transfer Tool, and it works perfectly. It was created back then to be burned to CD. Follow it's directions on how to load PocketStation files and whatnot, but you just copy the zip contents to the SD card, and PSIO will run it ...

Re: Let's talk about the PocketStation

Are there such things as Pocketstation ISO's? I thought the Pocketstation data or mini-games were on the real PlayStation game and you would unlock and save them to the Pocketstation to be played later. Yes, I was referring to the Japanese CD games themselves, which is what you'd use to load the Po...

Can't you just run the Pocketstation ISO's as you would any other Japanese game?

Re: Turbo/PCE CD?

It's too easy to just burn games to CD on Turbo/PCE-CD. That plus the hardware themselves are now very expensive. Sega-CD has a fairly large install base, and the model 2 can be bought fairly inexpensively.

Obviously the Saturn is the Holy Grail, but an extremely complicated system to work on.

Looks good! My USB-GDR works nice, but the menu is awful and the developer is an undesirable. So I'd love to sell it and get yours!

Re: CU2 Files- NTSC-U Games (Revised w/ links)

I downloaded a redump of Ridge Racer, but it's got the tracks broken up as bin's. Will this even work on PSIO? http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a612/grizz814/Video%20Games/PSX_zps8rn4yiiw.jpg I will be honest, I absolutely HATE finding the images of disc-based systems. There's been too many dumpi...

Geez, it was the character length. Why would someone create an archive for this, and exceed the length on hundreds on filenames??????
