Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Jackie Chan has a timing issue, so if we can fix it then it should help with making sure other titles work flawlessly. I think Resident Evil 2 is suffering from the timing issue too since it randomly locks up.

Re: In game reset feature

Matt, I'll look into using the reset of the parallel port. I didn't see that you could do it from there. Probably better and safer instead of probing on the power supply board :D . Pin 2 on the parallel port is reset. Use a 10K resistor with 3.3 volts to pull it if need be. Yeah, stay clear of the ...

Re: In game reset feature

That's really nice 'pyroesp', but don't use the reset on the power supply. Use the reset line on the parallel port!

What do you mean 'solidcore'?

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

I'll check it out and figure out what's using so many GPU cycles. There might be some unoptimised C code somewhere that I haven't seen for a while (after all, I started coding this back in May 2013 :P ). Anyway, some news I believe should be shared here regarding the new update coming out. At the mo...

Re: In game reset feature

The controller port can't control the parallel port directly, but we'll try to add it in software. My concern though is it might break some games, but we'll give it a shot. Otherwise, the only way is by hardware.

Re: Mega CD

Gosh, that's $400 Australian for the cartridge alone. If we made it, no way would it cost that much. I think they're selling them at that price because they know that Mega-CD units alone go for a few hundred dollars so they're taking advantage of that fact. Another issue is that the Mega-CD isn't th...

Re: Mega CD

Wow, looks like they beat us to it. Haha. We've been focused on PSIO too much :P

Looks like a really well made product and along the lines of something we would have done too. I would definitely buy it. Good job TerraOnion.

Re: Customs and VAT

I'm not sure how much the UK takes for custom charges. It might be in their website or you could try calling them and asking. It would be good if we had a wholesaler in the UK since we have one in America and Canada already, but no where else. That would eliminate that issue entirely.

Re: Order #4927

We can't send a replacement until we receive the old one back because otherwise the company takes a loss :(
The only thing we can do is wait.

Oh, well then there's no point even offering DHL Express as a service (except in countries where the taxes are extremely low or zero).

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Been doing some performance monitoring on the Menu System, and the GPU is under too much load. I want to try and get the system running at 60 FPS, but the text drawing is causing it to slow down. I'll see if I can optimise it further since when the PlayStation runs at the fastest frame rate possible...

Re: Order #4927

I'll have to consider adding a DHL Express option to the website because that's just ridiculous. The only thing you can do now is just wait.

Probably give it another 7 days and see if it updates. If not, open a Support Ticket please and we'll monitor it.

Re: Why CU2 ? Why Init so long ?

A SPI clock toggle could work similar to the N64 Everdrive, what mhz are you using by default 25mhz? Even if we sped it up though, it's not going to make any difference. The PlayStation Parallel Port has a maximum data transfer limit which can't be exceeded and the game data can only be transferred...

Yeah, the spindle spinning is normal operation. The 'Systems Manual' explains that.

Also be sure to make sure the ground is good. Sometimes a ground loop can cause these issues. Depends on the setup though, but it's something to check.

Re: PSIO stopped working

Best to scrape the solder mask under magnification so you really can see if it has all been removed flush with the edges of the via. I find the tip of a fine point X-Acto knife is best for this but it needs a steady hand. Exactly right. That's how you need to do it. You need maximum copper surface ...
