Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

BTW, I think the "click" sound at the beginning of each CDDA/XA track might be a sonic artifact caused by the missing ~20ms. Hopefully, one will fix the other.

I hope you get Final Fantasy 7 working 100% in the next update.
Especially since FF7 is just an example of where it happens.

Re: Castlevania SotN no music

For now, you can get the music back simply by going to the options menu and selecting Stereo.

BTW, if you actually played the whole game with Mono selected, you owe yourself another run with Stereo to truly appreciate the music in this game (assuming you have decent stereo speakers). :)

Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

So I'm not sure what's going on there, but the rip is totally incorrect in my opinion and the pregaps are at the incorrect times. PSIO is playing it correctly so it's a problem with the disc image data. What disc rip do you mean? The Redump one? It's totally correct, down to every frame. The game i...

Wasn't the waveform also inverted?
No, that's how it actually comes from PS1.

The problem is that the channels get out of sync when the L/R flip happens.

as for L/R flipped, is it same for CDDA and XA ?
It's the same for CDDA and XA, as confirmed by Ace in this post: viewtopic.php?p=24867#p24867

Remember that the L/R channels not only flip, but also get out of synchronization.

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

People seem to be missing the fact that the bugs appear because it's that hard to program for real PS1 hardware and within PSIO. This takes skills , talent , effort , and patience . It's not as simple as finding a bug. For example, we knew about the frame pacing issue in FFVII and FFVIII, but Matt/Y...

Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

As such PSIO is about 10 frames (1/6th of a second) slower than disc for this scene transition. Which is why it's visible and disturbing. The camera movement wasn't designed for those ~10 frames more and it just looks like stutter. What's clear from your analysis is that the CD goes virtually witho...

Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

Just a clarification here. MSF is the timestamps format used for CD-ROM: minutes, seconds, and fractional seconds called frames. The MSF for Tomb Raider is absolutely correct on Redump and in the CU2 resulting from that, down to every single fractional second. PSIO must be doing something with the p...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Fast disc read speed would break the majority of games, even if they appear to play OK at first. That's why Sony eventually deleted the option from the PS1 Classics emulator on PS3. PS1 games were designed with a set CD-ROM speed in mind and you can't skip past that. That's why XEBRA and Mednafen ha...

"The boot times have been reduced by ~2 seconds.", but I'm not sure if that relates to games or only loading images from the menu.
That's just about PSIO booting to the menu.

Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

Matt, you've added >>"Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" has 'jerkiness' throughout the gameplay <<, but the jerkiness happens only in the intro cinematic. Very easy to see when the camera swoops down on Kain's throne and when Kain approaches Raziel to tear down his wings. This played smoothly on 2.6.10. ...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Yep, it seems to me that loading times were somehow increased. In some games, where there's a ton of seeking, they seem to play more smoothly than from the CD-ROM since there's no physical movement of the laser head to deal with anymore. I mean, assuming you have a pristine disc and a brand-new las...

Re: [Menu System V2.6.11] Bug Reports

Okay, Tomb Raider 1 and 2 have been fixed. The problem was we limited the ARM to 50 tracks in the heap, and then used the remaining 50 on the stack if it needed them, but the stack was out of room so the ARM would simply overflow and crash. I strongly advise you guys to keep this list of games in m...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Let's hope there are no other broken major games. I've tested 50 since yesterday. Only Tomb Raider 1-2 hanged. The only other non-ATV issue I've noticed is the jerky movement in the intro of Soul Reaver (worked perfectly before, so it's a firmware issue, but minor). But for some reason there are no...

Re: PSIO Development Discussion Thread

Doom and gloom, when in reality this firmware has far less bugs than any before it. :) Tomb Raider 1-2 are the only games reported to freeze so far, and that's simply because both are extremely susceptible to changes in timings. It's most likely as easy as changing value X to value Y for one of the ...
