Re: Remember position on the list

I like the option to have this features, but I think there should also be an option to turn off this features in case the user doesn't want them.

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

You need to leave the 12V connected for the official PAL SCART cable to function on a PAL console. VGA is fine without. I haven't actually used a dreamcast with the normal disc so I do not have a reference for how hot these units normally get. I have left Crazy Taxi, GDEMU, 3D prinited tray, Noctua...

Re: Assorted PSIO BMP ARTWORK for download!!!

http://www.ps-io.com/cover_art/index.html Special thanks to 'ncirocco' for this one! Thank you for that. Just wanted to report that there are only NA covers for Final Fantasy Anthology (FFA in NA has FFV and FFVI, it doesn't contain FFIV), there are no PAL FFA covers (in PAL regions, FFA contains F...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

I've heard that the 12V rail overheats because it's not being used, and that the problem is completely solved by doing the following mod (adding a resistor): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVKN3pQ11wM Also, because the GD-ROM is removed, airflow will not be the same. Something like a 3D printed tra...

Switchboard Minimal Instalation - just for using PSIO, don't need to use disc drive

Hi, I received my PSIO a few months ago, but still haven't had time to test it. Anyway, I have some questions about the switchboard. 1- I don't want to use the disc drive in the PS1 that I'm going to connect to PSIO. 1.1 - Is the installation of the switchboard simpler if I don't mind loosing the di...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

The drives operate at 3.3V. If you look at the GD-ROM drive before you remove it, you'll notice that it 3.3V is stamped on the GD-ROM metal housing right on top. VA1 and VA2 models (Dreamcast) used 3.3V. VA0 I believe used 5V. Thanks, I did not know that. I've been searching more about this matter ...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

You can place a resistor in the 12V rail (this works for the GDEMU and USB-GDROM), I believe it reduces the heat a little bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVKN3pQ11wM You can also buy a DreamPSU. https://www.retropsu.com/store/product/dreampsu Or build a PicoPSU. I've been to that "flash warning...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

Both these devices were designed with the 3.3V power in mind. They will not kill your console. Thanks for shedding some light on this matter, I don't have enough knowledge and I've always been a bit worried about using these devices in my consoles. "Better safe than sorry" is what I usually tell my...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

Ok not another update request, just my 2 cents. In a few months, a friend will give me is old Dreamcast for me to "play" ;D so I've been looking into the Dreamcast modding options. This is the general idea I got: 1. IDE Reborn It requires soldering skills, cutting the Dreamcast case to fit a IDE 40...

Hi. I'm on the December orders and I'm afraid of not being home to receive the PSIO due to vacations. Can my PSIO be shipped in mid September? Thanks.
Sure, what was your order number so I can place it on hold for you?

Power related questions

Hi, First off all, sorry for my ignorance. Recently I've heard some rumours that some custom cartridges for old consoles don't meet the voltage requirements (like some EverDrives), causing a faster ageing of the console components. The PSIO is kind of a cartridge, so I just wanted to know if this ki...

Re: Saturn Satiator!

I've also been following the Satiator development. I hope it gets done. I like it because it is plug and play, no modifications needed, and supports USB. The only down side is not having a Video Card connector (games that have the option to use the Video Card won't be able to use it), but this is a ...

Re: Official DCIO News and Development Thread

Maybe this is a naive suggestion, but have you considered using a USB port? A USB port could be used to connect external hard drives (that usually come with external power supply, so it wouldn't stress the DC power supply) and it could also be used to connect other devices (USB flash drive, SD card ...
