Install a mod-chip. Get the Mayumi V4. PSIO will not act as a mod-chip.
You'll need a modchip since PSIO will only boot original discs for legal reasons. This is described in the FAQ.

7/JUNE/2018 – The latest PCB samples have arrived and from the ten (10) samples we received, we have a 100% success rate. The final order has now been placed and we are waiting on them to arrive (which should be 4-5 weeks from now). Once they have arrived, assembly will begin of PSIO Cartridges and shipment will start.
One more week to go before shipping starts?

I guess the 4-5 weeks thing was quite the underestimation! Hopefully mid-August will be somewhat closer in approximation. :-?

It's really tough to give precise times because everything is manufactured overseas and sometimes the companies who produce our parts cause more delays. As an example, the circuit board company recently told us they were waiting on one of the integrated circuits to arrive which delayed us by 4 weeks unexpectedly.

Ah I understand. Having to rely on overseas manufacturers is a roll of the dice on completion dates.
