It is very annoying. I've been getting a few emails about it.
We're debugging it right now though trying to get the issue sorted.

We don't allow downgrading because we like to resolve the issues and move forward keeping everyone on the same firmware.

The 3D Printed "Hi-Def Acrylate" PSIO case arrived today. I've confirmed that the case is up to our liking, and we're now ready for injection moulding :)

The bumps on the plastic are from the acrylate being tacked down on a table when it was 3D printed layer-by-layer. I could sand the plastic and spray paint it grey, but it's only a prototype used to see the dimensions and projection outcome as a pre-process to injection moulding. Injection moulding isn't cheap, so 3D printing is a fantastic method of "trying before buying" ;)

The case now uses a screwless design, meaning there are no screw holes on the back. Other improvements will be the use of in-mould labelling, higher quality ABS plastic and better texture/colour matching properties of the PlayStation 1 case.

Carmageddon looks fine to me. It's just how the game seems to be programmed.
I'll need a comparison video to show the differences in performance.

Game compatibility notes:
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster seems to be working: http://cybdyn-systems.com.au:82/browse/CSGC-80

Newest firmware seems to be working well. I tried a few games that had hitching/freezing issues in the past (FF8 for example) and they performed better than they ever have. Thanks to everyone who has worked on this project for all their hard work.

Next biggest issue for me is the moving of the XA decoding from ARM to FPGA to fix the bad audio in games like SOTN. Any ideas on when that might get prioritized?

^ I have played the first 3-4 "stages" and did not notice anything BGM related, what is the issue with SOTN?

What do you mean by "bad audio" ? bad quality or skipped/ignored tracks ?
I have been playing SOTN lately and I did not notice bad audio.
I can share details of the game image I am using if need be.

I linked the open ticket. Read it for info. There are even sample FLAC files if you want to A/B test.

Moving the XA decoder from the ARM to the FPGA is the next stage of improving the firmware.
We are currently looking into fixing a potential SD Card bug which is why Parasite Eve 2 fails by SD but not by USB.

In the next Menu System release, since it's a major update (V2.0), I've been working on adding/fixing:

- Added checking of the MENU.SYS file for SD Card swaps.
- If CD-ROM loading fails, an error is now displayed.
- Fixed a small bug in the 'first boot' procedures when selecting an audio track.
- Vibration for DUAL-SHOCK controllers Added.
- Multidisc titles have the option to select what disc to boot first.
- A 3D interactive controller is now shown during the first time boot intro (shows help on navigating the Menu System).

I may also add the selected first time boot music track selection to the burn-in timer event.

I do believe it's only a matter of time before the PSIO reaches 99.9% compatibility. A feature I'm waiting for the possibility of, is the opening and closing of the lid to cycle multi-disc titles.

That last game (0.1%) might end up being Vib Ribbon, but it should be fixable via a single wire ran to the PSIO Cartridge (it'll be a step added to the Switch Board guides as an additional but not required fix) :P.

I admire your intentions to reach 100% compatibility :clap Keep going guys :dance
