Yeah, turned out really nice! Just currently assembling a custom made lightbox so we can take high-quality photos of the final product for the website now :)

That box looks amazing! And I love the black PCB! I will need to start saving some money now.

So sad we can't get those boxes alone.
You really should consider to make them available to purchase. That's just a matter of printing ?

Well if we did that, we would have to produce more boxes just for people who would like to update to them, but the issue is, we don't know how many would exactly like to update to them, so it adds more cost to our production values. Plus, the model number on the box itself doesn't match the cartridge model, so if someone were to resell a cartridge on eBay or something, they might think they're getting the latest model with the new case and parallel port, only to see the old cartridge inside or even perhaps a BETA cartridge. It's a bit strange really. It's like asking Apple to just buy the iPhone 10 box for the iPhone 2 :P

Update time :)

First off, we have a new box design which is much better than the previous one we have been using. Secondly, they now include custom made inserts which (you guessed it), can house the 'PlayStation Parallel I/O' cover so they wont get lost.

We have also been testing with a whole range of SD Cards, and we're pleased to say that 256 GB SD Cards work perfectly! We are however having trouble with a certain model (The 'Lexar Professional' range), but we'll hopefully have those figured out and sorted soon. In the meantime, we'll try to get this long due and awaited firmware update for PSIO out shortly.

The new black (2218) PSIO revision has also bee hand-soldered and tested, and we're pleased to say that it's stable and performing as it should. We didn't expect it to fail, but before mass production, it was done as a safety check.

We are now currently sending our parallel ports overseas for PCB assembly. We will have the entire batch of boards in our hands in March. From there, we will begin shipping of all the pre-orders, starting of course with the longest and most overdue, July and June. We expect shipments to start in mid April/early June. Unfortunately it's taken much longer than anticipated (exactly 1 year as a matter of fact), so we can't possibly thank you enough for your patience and understandings in regards to this enormous timeframe for delivery. It's is long worth the wait however, and as you can see, the quality and sheer perfectionism of PSIO has been superseded as always.

More updates along the way :flag
Awesome Matt, thank you for keeping us updated!

I'm a june batch here, so I have all the patience in the world, specially now that we know the estimated date. At least now I don't have to hold off my stuff at my US freight forwarder anymore waiting for the PSIO.

I was wondering about board installs though, are they also ETA'd for April/May? :D I'm in no hurry if the PSIO will take longer, but I wanted to know anyways.

The board installs would have been sent beforehand, but if they have been slow or delayed in getting back to you, it's just that we're so busy at the moment we haven't completed them yet. It's hard when there is just one guy doing all the work :?

My question is I placed my preorder back in late November early December. When I received my e-mail for it, it said that it should ship in Feb 2018. Is that still the case or has that time frame been pushed back?

hey no worries broski, have a beer on me!

I know you are a one man army, like I said, if it takes until the summer (winter for you), then thats how long it takes. I'll use this time to finish dark souls 3 and bloodborne :dance

Was there some kind of delay or issue? My pre order is only from December so I know I have a ways to go..but just curious.

This place is mostly a ghost town so it's hard to really know what is happening aside from occasional posts here or there.

Keep up the great work.

There were no issues at all luckily. It just takes time to get samples from overseas, assemble them, check them, test them, tweak them, re-order them, etc. until we're happy with the result. The best thing to check really is the PSIO homepage. There is a progress bar for each pre-order phase :)

It's been forever since I have been on here and I cannot believe the updates coming. The new box, the new connectors, the new PSIO casing etc. I'm going to make a jewel case insert for people to download so you can take the files, print them and insert them in a chunky case (2 disc case) to store SD cards or just have it to look cool next to there PlayStation/ PSIO units. Looking forward to ordering this new model. I love the new box which resembles the original peripheral packaging.

I think some time this year I'll order another chip and install it on my other system.

This is great that everything is streamlined.

For the past week, we've been busy re-designing the PCB from scratch. This new board has a better layout which improves the heat dissipation, noise, signalling, cross-talk, trace capacitance (better signal rise and fall times), impedance and integrity. The old boards which are present in existing PSIO's are perfectly fine of course, so these are just mostly cosmetic for mass production to ensure even higher stability and reliability in extreme conditions (EG: better RF/interference handling).
