After much discussion with our manufacturer, I've managed to explain and assist them in making the connection better by adjusting the pin angle/bow to ensure the connector is firmer and 'snaps' into position as the critical bending point of the pins is reached. So, we now have new parallel port samples on the way! We're almost there
YouTube Description wrote:This video is from our Chinese manufacturer and is the second revision of the newly injection moulded and steel pin casted parallel port for the PlayStation. In comparison to our previous version (the first sample run), this connector is much tighter and makes a much more solid and sturdy connection.

Cool! As I sometimes had connection problems with my PSIO:
Will it be possible to equip earlier PSIO devices with the new connector?

The connection problems would be from corrosion on the PSX female connector.
No, you can't replace the old connector with the new connector (not unless you send it into us for repair/replacement).

Really high quality G420 monitor too! Is the PVM the 14L2?

I think it's the 14L2. I don't really want to move it to see the product label because the logic analysers clips/probes are pretty delicate.

New updated PSIO's PCB's completed. This time, they're black 8-)

I'm currently hand soldering one up to verify everything is still stable.
Do I miss doing this? Uhm... No

Update time :)

First off, we have a new box design which is much better than the previous one we have been using. Secondly, they now include custom made inserts which (you guessed it), can house the 'PlayStation Parallel I/O' cover so they wont get lost.

We have also been testing with a whole range of SD Cards, and we're pleased to say that 256 GB SD Cards work perfectly! We are however having trouble with a certain model (The 'Lexar Professional' range), but we'll hopefully have those figured out and sorted soon. In the meantime, we'll try to get this long due and awaited firmware update for PSIO out shortly.

The new black (2218) PSIO revision has also bee hand-soldered and tested, and we're pleased to say that it's stable and performing as it should. We didn't expect it to fail, but before mass production, it was done as a safety check.

We are now currently sending our parallel ports overseas for PCB assembly. We will have the entire batch of boards in our hands in March. From there, we will begin shipping of all the pre-orders, starting of course with the longest and most overdue, July and June. We expect shipments to start in mid April/early June. Unfortunately it's taken much longer than anticipated (exactly 1 year as a matter of fact), so we can't possibly thank you enough for your patience and understandings in regards to this enormous timeframe for delivery. It's is long worth the wait however, and as you can see, the quality and sheer perfectionism of PSIO has been superseded as always.

More updates along the way :flag

That looks fantastic, well done to you guys. Is the new version updated in any way compared to the older versions, in terms of spec/hardware etc, or is it just cosmetic changes?

Thank you. It's been a tough manufacturing process, but we're at the end of the tunnel now. No, just cosmetic changes.
