X axis shift option for ntsc games on pal tv

Post by Trixster » April 28th, 2016, 6:57 am

Hi,

I have a PSIO and have found that when running ntsc games on my pal Panasonic gt50 tv using rgb scart the image is shifted by ten or fifteen pixels to the left which cuts off some of the screen. Some games have the option to adjust the image which works fine but quite a lot don't. Unfortunately my tv doesn't have a menu option to shift the display or delay the timing of the ntsc scart signal so that it centres correctly.

I was wondering if it would be possible to put this feature into psio?

I believe the service menu of the tv might be able to shift the display to the right but this would the also affect pal scart images which currently display centered, so this isnt really a fix.

No sorry. You'll have to use a different TV I'm afraid.

If it's only 10 pixels then maybe, using the service menu to shift the image, you could find a happy medium where both PAL and NTSC are shifted to the right and left respectively by only a few pixels each, which should be hardly noticable considering games were made with at least that much overscan in mind.

Unfortunately I think the shift would be too much to keep pal games from being shunted too far right.
