Force 60hz when booting a PAL game from PSIO Menu

Post by Tgames » September 19th, 2018, 8:06 pm

Hi,

Lot of PS1 PAL games are working fine when they are forced to 60hz (thanks to custom boot menu like PSHacker).

Can you had an option to force the 60hz (ON/OFF) when starting a PAL game ?

Because it's easy to do by memory patches.

It wil be useful only for PAL games, because NTSC games already played in 60hz even in a PAL console (frequency is forced by the game, not forced by the console).

I have tested a lot of PS1 PAL Games with PSHacker (who allow to force 60hz on every PAL games) and lot of games works fine. It will be cool to have this feature on the PSIO (without hex editing every games).

Best Regards.

Sure, I will look into this for you, but it won't happen straight away since it will take a lot of work to add such a feature. What I want to do first actually is add the ability for PSIO to write to the SD Card so settings for each game can be saved, otherwise you will have to manually make a file for each game which you would like this feature to be on or off so the Menu System knows. It's a little counter-intuitive that way.

This would be a great feature to have as it might make pal games compatible with the ossc and certain Panasonic TVs
MK 1 Sega Saturn + 60hz mod| PSX SCPH-1002 + PSIO | SNES + 60hz mod + sd2snes
Amiga A1200 + 80mhz Blizzard 1260 + 128MB + Indivision AGA2 + Ide-fix Express
Amiga A500 | Acorn A3020 + 4MB + Ethernet mini-podule | BBC B 32KB | RPi3 + RetroPie

Instead of that, you could have a trigger for the feature be added to the games name so that the PSIO menu knows what to boot. That's easier/faster than creating a config file manually for each game and it would be faster to implement from the development side of things. Any game with "newfeatureX" in the game title automatically runs. And, when you implement the save file per game creation in the future, it can import that setting to any game that has that in the name. So zero extra work for people who have already done it. Win/Win.

I haven't done it and I don't want to rename my directories anytime I decide to use another mode. The config file is coming anyway, so why not use that? In fact, the EXTDSP mode is optionally set per game via an empty file, which is already closer to having a config file.

This would be great!!!
I think that this feature would be enthusiastically taken by all Europeans or anyway who is forced to pal versions due to languages restriction.

Cela devrait être possible, mais d'abord ils doivent ajouter la possibilité d'écrire sur le SD
parce que la PSIO ne peut pas encore le faire.
De toute façon il serait préférable d'écrire en anglais sur le forum mon ami. In english please
