Save State / Load State Support?

Post by futuremoves » November 6th, 2017, 6:32 am

Hi,

I just placed my order and couldn't be more excited. PSIO is a dream come true. Thank you for all your continued hard work!

Will it be possible to implement Save States at some point and save/load them to/from the SD Card?

I see the question was bounced around under general feature requests. This would be an amazing option that would breath life into many titles that needed a save option or were just too difficult in general.

Is any work being done to implement this or is it a feature on the back burner?

Thank you!

Hi,

Unfortunately such a theory can't be implemented since the only way to do save states on a real console under real hardware is to dump all the DRAM, R3000A Registers, VRAM (SGRAM), SRAM, etc, and then when you're ready to load them back, write them all back respectively. This simply can not be done.

Emulators on the other hand can get away with it because all the data is simply a 'copy and paste' routine.

Thanks.
