Firmware upgrade over an hour?

Post by icedtrip » May 26th, 2017, 12:39 pm

I finally got around to installing my PSIO after having it for several months. Switch board install went smooth and I'm able to boot using a disc and the PSIO. When booting with the PSIO, I was getting an "INVALID SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SOFTWARE TERMINATED" message. I figured I should update the firmwares and try again before reporting anything.

Using the latest ARM and FPGA downloads, I booted the PSIO. It booted to the PSIO BIOS screen, then the screen went blank as expected from the instructions. The PS1 has been on for over an hour now and nothing has come on the screen. I'm assuming this is too long, but don't want to touch it in case it will brick the device. Is this too long for the upgrade and what should I do?

The update process is only ~15 seconds. Turn it off and turn it back on and see if it boots. It should do. Otherwise, I'll send you additional instructions.

I turned it off and back on. PlayStation boot screen with PSIO at the bottom comes up like normal, the screen goes off with the PS1 still on, but nothing happens. Tried the same with a different SD card using the latest Menu, ARM, and FPGA with the same results.

Okay, please wait. I will release a new Menu System in about 30 minutes.

No problem. I'll keep an eye out for the new Menu System and will give it a try when I get home in a couple hours.

I'm getting the same results as before using Menu 2.1.0. The Playstation boot screen comes up with PSIO at the bottom. Stays there for a few seconds, the screen goes blank with the Playstation still on. Nothing else happens.

Quick update. I removed the firmware updates, then booted while holding down START + SELECT and am now in the Menu system. Up and running and it looks like the firmware updates were applied. Thanks for the help!
