Confusion on Redump LibCrypt Games

Post by manic23 » September 18th, 2016, 5:50 pm

Can I please ask do the Redump PS1 games that have LibCrypt encryption have this removed? I note that there is a .sbi file included that has the LibCrypt data but does the actual .bin files have it removed?

I realise that the PSIO does not support LibCrypt games but just wondered if we can use these or not. I suppose what I am really asking is can we use the Redump LibCrypt games with the PSIO?

Thanks.

You can use LibCrypt games, but you need to crack them to remove the LibCrypt protection using "PPF-O-MATIC". Read the 'PSIO Systems Manual' for more information, or here is a quick reference to information on it.

Also on a related note is it best to use the EDC or No EDC games?

No EDC would be preferred because depending on the quality of the dump/rip you have, EDC may kick in and lock the game up as PSIO may interpret the data incorrectly. Plus, if you have a trainer due to LibCrypt patches, EDC can destroy the game entirely by locking it up. Really it depends on the game and patch though.

Thanks again for your help shadow. There is surprisingly little info on the web about EDC in terms of what is best for PSIO, I hope this thread also helps others.
