What firmware? I was playing PAL version for a long time with previus firmaware (not the latest).

Tested PAL version with new firmware and seems to work ok.

Has anyone tested Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku (SOTN) with the english retranslation?

For me the game often freezes at the area switching tunnel.

It worked fine for me on the previous firmware but, I haven't tried it on the latest. I'll try it sometime tomorrow if nobody chimes in before then.

It didn't freeze on any of the corridors but, mine just froze at the teleporter when trying to go back to the normal castle from the inverted castle.

Tried now with Fast-Boot disabled.
Still freezes often at the the area switching corridors.

Tried Castlevania - Symphony of the Night (USA) as well, but I freezes at the corridors, too.
Also freezes one time while opening the map.

Re: Game testing group - my findings

Post by Scribe86 » November 25th, 2016, 1:07 am

These are my findings if games that are having issues with the PSIO at the moment. Could help out the community.

Fighting Force - Freezes goes to black screen after character select. All versions available online.

Grand Theft Auto - Freezes on initial game loading screen after title screen. Sticks on a fully loaded progress bar. All versions available online.

Nekketsu-Oyako (Hot Blooded Family) - Boots but after publisher info and new Pinball game advertisement it freezes on black screen.

Mega man X3/Rockman X3 - Loads initially but after Capcom logo it goes to loading screen and freezes there.

Langrisser 4 English Patched - Loads from PSIO menu to black screen.

Super puzzle fighter - Loads up until "now loading Super puzzle fighter" loading screen and then sticks on a black screen.

Street fighter - The Movie : loads to black screen. All copies/all regions found online.

The Firemen 2 - Pete & Danny: constant Audio issue; skipping background music.

Vandal Hearts 2 - Sticks at the Konami logo screen, yellow light on PSIO is constantly flickering.

I can't guarantee I'll be able to test all these, but I'm planning on doing at least some of them. I'll remove games as I test them. Thanks.

Cleaned the parralel port and copied the game again onto a fresh sdcard.

Played yesterday again for several hours with about 20 freezes.
Most of them are like I said before at the corridors.

Or while entering the Richter Belmont Room at Castle Keep.

Need to know what versions. Ntsc, pal, etc. Fighting force is working on Ntsc along with GTA, Are you using CU2 files with those games? If not that would explain it, the windows system console will make those files for you.

The PSIO System Manual is available for download- I really advise everyone give that a read. Also check the game compatibility forum posts. zredgemz and I have busted our ass to provide somewhat of a detailed compatibility list for everyone to look over. Give that a read too. PLEASE NOTE that we have only tested NTSC-U titles as a bulk of our work.

Tried SOTN again with two other sdcards. But the same problems are occuring.
Freezing many times at the corridors, teleporters or while opening the map.

So @MateriaMind I think you should update your list :)

I've literally just played through and beat it this weekend and it did not present one problem to me whatsoever.

Possible solutions for you:
1.) Make sure your CU2 file is correct.
2.) Make sure the separate BIN files have been merged. Use the PSIO Systems console provided in the Downloads section for this.
3.) It may not hurt to re-download it. I once downloaded FF7 Disc 1 and it skipped. After re-downloading it, this fixed it.
4.) Make sure your solder connections are sound and that the switch board is placed in the recommended spot.
5.) This is a relative, debatable opinion of mine- Avoid Kingston and Lexar SD cards like the plague. Stick to SanDisk. I'm not sure what you're using so please don't take this as me talking down to you.

Hmm... Strange...

3.) Image is checked by Clrmamepro (Redump.org) several times. So that should be fine.

1.) and 2.) Yes, I have recreated the CU2 and merged BIN with SYSCON and also rd2psio, several times.
Could you provide a MD5 or SHA hash of your merged bin to compare?

4.) Checked them also already. But I will check again.

What kind of PS1 Board are you using?

I'm using a 5501 mother board, PU-18. I cannot verify my MD5 or SHA as sadly that's something I've never ventured into so I wouldn't know where to start right this second. My roms were from the zone of iso's... don't want to mention it directly. But it is definitely a REDUMP image. I've burned it to a 650MB Gold MAM-A CD-R and use it on my PSIO SD card as well and it works as retail through both means.

But I can say for certain- that SOTN has not given me any issues whatsoever. I'm getting ready for work currently, but upon replying to your message earlier I started a new game and got to the library to buy the item that lets you pass through the blue doors and it never crashed or anything of the sort.
