I've been playing Suikoden II no problem. Only the game's opening FMV stutters and, if I recall correctly having completed it about 15+ years ago, isn't it like the only FMV in the entire game? The reminiscence cut-scene played 100% normally.

I'm playing the PAL version patched to 60Hz, since they fixed some glitches present in the NTSC release (there's no music in strategy battles I seem to recall reading somewhere). And I've made it to the first town without problem. Battles load OK, and the in-game music plays and loops without trouble.

It's a super expensive game to buy the disc (unless you PSN it), so for anyone wanting to try it, I'm guessing it should be completable.

EDIT: It seems there's an FMV before Neclord. I don't even remember this in S2, so... I dunno. I'll have to wait and see if it crashes the game or not.

---

On a different game, played the first level of Treasure of the Deep, and while it runs normally, when the first audio track loops the game seems to freeze for 3 to 4 seconds, and then resumes. Not game breaking, but I'm wondering if anyone else found that?

I tend to be playing mostly obscure stuff at the moment.

Good! I've been playing mostly early U.S. releases (1995-1996). We need people to test a ton of different games, so Shadow can make the most accurate firmware possible. Everything helps. Thanks for your contribution.

If you want- PM me the titles that are working, broken, problematic etc. Follow at least similarly how I did it and I can add them to my master list. If they use CU2 make note of it and stuff of that nature. I prefer to keep the list NTSC-U based. Maybe we can do an import list at a later time. It's up to you. My thought process is to keep this list as simple as possible without having to do an Easter egg hunt between posts to look for general compatibility.

Can someone test something for me? Tales of Destiny II (NTSC) seems to have some weird audio issues with spoken dialog, i just want to be sure since this is a game i do not own that i could test with a disc. Once you get past the intro video and get right into gameplay the dialog between Reid and Farah sounds off.

If you'd like to assist myself and zredgemz with game testing it'd be appreciated. Send (PM) me lists of working, broken and problematic titles and I will create a master list for all to view. Essentially follow my lead from the list I created like if it uses CU2 etc. I'm/ we are primarily focusing on NTSC-U games. Someone else will have to spear-head a PAL compatibility list.

I tested a lot of games last week, but only for 5-10 minutes each, so I've only been reporting games that don't load, and issues that appear right away. Since so many of the early releases have major problems, I'm going to stick with testing those for now. Any games that don't load or have problems, I report to Shadow and post in this thread.

Because I'm not spending a lot of time with any of the games, I prefer to not list them as "working," though of course someone else might choose to. The early NTSC-U releases are a real mess right now, so I think I can help best by testing those. Especially sports games -- is anyone else testing sports games? Haha.

I'm planning on testing more early releases, for 5 or 10 minutes each (if the game actually loads, of course). If anyone has tested any of the games below, with the newest firmware, please let me know so I can cross them off my list. All are NTSC-U. I can't guarantee I'll be able to test all these, but I'm planning on doing at least some of them. I'll remove games as I test them. Thanks.

NFL GameDay (NTSC-U): When you select your team and start a game, it freezes on the loading screen.

Ridge Racer (NTSC-U): The volume of the announcer's voice is too low during and after a race. I think there might also be a problem on the main menu, but I don't have a disc to test: I think the music is supposed to be start playing immediately, but there's a delay when using the PSIO; and I think you're supposed to be able to test the other music tracks, but you can't with the PSIO. But again, I'm not positive about those things.
