Install a mod-chip. Get the Mayumi V4. PSIO will not act as a mod-chip.
You'll need a modchip since PSIO will only boot original discs for legal reasons. This is described in the FAQ.

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Yes, you'll get both at the same time ;) Haha, I do the same whenever my mates come over too. It's awesome. You don't have to worry about your original CD-ROM's getting cracked or scratched, or, if your system was modchipped, the game freezing up on you from a worn out laser system. You just drink, ...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Do you have an ETA for the next round of pre-orders? Probably next month. Wooo! 99% Yup! Just waiting on the labels and final PCB's to arrive, and then we'll start getting them shipped off :) Nice! The finish line is in sight at last. Any progress with board installs? My boards arrived at your site...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

The XA sampling quality issue is being worked on, but it's a slow process. At the moment, we're focused on getting compatibility high and then we'll give complete focus on the other tasks to perfect PSIO. As for adding GameShark codes, we can look into it, but it won't be until after we get the XA q...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

It's been very tough. PSIO was just a concept in 2010, but the real development and prototype came in 2012. From there, it's been a task of product improvement which includes everything you see up till today. If it wasn't for Yuri and myself constantly putting effort into PSIO, it would have failed ...

Re: Feature Question

Yes, it will work fine since PSIO skips the BIOS license checking logic :)

Only copied CD-R's will not work (we can make them work, but obviously for legal reasons we don't make PSIO act like a modchip).

You have to be quick to get in on it. Try again now.
If it still doesn't work, we are sold out.

Hi,

No, removing the CD-ROM drive will not have an effect on PSIO, nor will the door (hood) switch.

Thanks.

No it's not required, but if you include it in the box you're sending to us, we'll re-solder it for you. It's happened to other customers too. Easy repair :)

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

It's still on the to-do list, along with full ATV register support (so games like "Bust a Groove" have the fade-out effect when you pause the game, and volume sliders in other games work properly with XA/CDDA tracks).
