Re: PSIO not working

It means the next two trace cuts coming up in the PDF are a little more difficult. It doesn't mean to cut two traces in that photo. Follow it exactly as stated and only cut where the red line is placed.

Re: My order due to complete in March

Well, the cartridges are fully assembled, but we're just waiting on some more VOID labels to arrive (our original supplier messed us around so we've had to find a new supplier quickly), so we'll have them sent in April.

Re: PSIO not working

It's either a bad Switch Board install or you've got a bad parallel port connection. No, you don't need a CD-ROM drive for PSIO to work. The LED on the PSIO Cartridge will only illuminate when CD access is taking place. However, when you connect a USB cable and power on your PlayStation, the LED sho...

Re: PSIO doesn't work - was switch board correctly installed?

Yep! That would be the issue. Just remove the resistor marked in red and it'll work for you (or cut just the trace yourself as mentioned in the PU-8 guide) :)

Yep, those two boards are done. The mainboards will be sent first, and then the PSIO Cartridges afterwards.

Re: PSIO doesn't work - was switch board correctly installed?

The problem is that the Action Replay doesn't use all the pins like PSIO does so the Action Replay will most likely work. I was actually doing some thinking, and if possible, double-check the Switch Board again. The PlayStation is probably freezing on the CD-ROM interrupt vector which means a wire m...

I thought you only needed to have the MENU.SYS on the SD Card - am I missing something? I tried putting the FIRMWARE.AFW on there also, but I still have the problem :(
I replied to your other topic here.

Re: PSIO doesn't work - was switch board correctly installed?

Since you have the PSIO logo coming up and you can still boot CD-ROM's, it means the Switch Board was installed correctly. No, using a different ground plane wouldn't cause such an issue nor would the modchip. Those wires that are running over the ground pads should really be moved away from the gro...

Re: PSIO won’t boot but used to

Don't use a fibreglass pen. It won't do anything except expose a small amount of copper around the via where a thin amount of tenting has spread. You need to manually scrape the soldermask. The soldermask is thick and it's tough. Only a knife will get it off. If you also use a fibreglass pen, you wi...

Re: PSIO won’t boot but used to

could the switch install come away ie bad solder and cause the issue?? I can do if you didn't solder it correctly. I've been seeing a lot of installers 'push' the wire through the via and add a spot of solder and think it's adhered when it actually has not. You can't do this. You must scrape the so...

Re: Can't create a MULTIDISC. LST that psio recognizes

It's so bloody stupid that Microsoft disables that by default in their OS. Amen. On Windows 10, you can solve that annoyance by searching for "File Explorer Options" on the start menu, go to the "View" tab, and uncheck "Hide extensions for know file types". Yeah, I noticed on Windows 10 they made i...

Re: Can't create a MULTIDISC. LST that psio recognizes

You're missing the file extensions in the LST file.

Also, you've named the "MULTIDISC.LST" file "MULTIDISC.LST.LST".
I would assume the same with your "CU2" files too.

You need to turn on file extensions. It's so bloody stupid that Microsoft disables that by default in their OS.

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Hi Matt! Any updates regarding progress and/or an estimated release date on the next firmware? I've been holding off on Resident Evil 2 and 3 with hopes the delayed transitions might be solved in the next one. That Final Fantasy 7 glitch as well. Thanks for everything you guys do! I'm still working...
