Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

So excited to see it, and so sad not to have the cash.

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

After several hours of debugging, I found the reason why 'Formula 1 98' wasn't booting. The problem relates to the CNF parser logic. This will be fixed in the next Menu System update (>V2.6.0). For some odd reason, Psygnosis added a whole bunch of tabs (ASCII 09h) to the SYSTEM.CNF sheet and it was...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Demand is there in general for old consoles. However, these devices must be really ready for mass production or else you will have a flooding of pissed off gamers. I do have hopes for PSIO, but at the same time I'm worried because every mod ends up with some compatibility issues and this is basicall...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

We'll get through them, and as the code becomes more perfected, the compatibility should only get better and better with lesser problems and issues. That's what I'm hoping for, but I'm scared of issues which might end up unresolvable, like the Vib Ribbon's SPU registers access. :crying Also, it mus...

Re: Official PSIO News and Development Thread

Confirmed Formula One 98 [PAL] . Dear oh dear... What is Psygnosis doing this time :shrug I'm scared the more people have PSIO, the more problems will pop up. The PS1 development became very, very advanced due to the system's popularity. Some devs used methods which are not documented anywhere. The...

Re: Why a cartridge solution?

The GD-ROM design is actually extremely simple. The PlayStation is all custom designed, including the laser diode itself which too needs to be emulated. Interesting. I didn't see it mentioned before anywhere. In fact, I remember reading throughout the years that the GD-ROM design is quite complicat...

Re: Why a cartridge solution?

Perhaps however in the future we will develop such a CD-ROM emulator, but the issue is it takes a lot of time and money, and we're focused on what we have designed and developed in the meantime. The reason I asked is because the GDEMU guy did all by himself, literally in his private room with no la...

Why a cartridge solution?

Hello, I'm curious why the cartridge solution was used? It requires mainboard modifications and I'm seeing compatibility problems. Dreamcast's GD-ROM hardware emulation by the Makaron author uses a PCB plugged directly into the console as a laser assembly replacements and it emulates the GD-ROM at t...
